Statement to Carter Center:
Rosalynn Carter was wonderful and a dynamo.
She arranged the House Aging Committee meeting with President Carter which generated support for and passage of the bill abolishing age discrimination in employment at 65. Without her, and then President Carter's support and signing the Pepper bill, this momentous change in the law finally protecting against age discrimination would not have occurred. She also hosted the committee's conference on mental health and the aging. Rosalynn made a huge difference for the better in so many ways.
Sincerely, Bob Weiner, former Chief of Staff, House Aging Committee
