Bob Weiner, former staffer with the Clinton administration and a Democratic strategist, said McCain’s “maverick” label no longer applies.

“If he was a maverick, he’s a maverick no more,” Weiner told CNSNews.com. “He’s gotten closer to Bush on everything.”

Weiner also said McCain’s record speaks louder than the Democrats’ (old) praise in the ad.

“If you look at his overall record, he has a 90 percent conservative record,” Weiner said. “That’s higher than a lot of other conservatives.”
