John Conyers has a new book out in anticipation of his probable role as the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee:
WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ — A report by House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers and the Democratic staff, "George W. Bush versus the U.S. Constitution", is now available in book form, with an introduction by Ambassador Joseph Wilson, whose wife, Valerie Plame, is a former CIA agent, outed and harassed by the Administration, and a Foreword by Congressman Conyers.
Robert Weiner, Conyers' former press secretary who later worked as a senior public affairs director in the Clinton White House, is being made available to discuss the new Conyers book and report published by Academy Chicago Publishers.
All polls indicate that Iraq is the top issue in the coming elections. The book of the House Judiciary Committee's report outlines "deception, manipulation, torture, retribution, and cover-ups in the Iraq War and illegal domestic spying."
Weiner states that the report is "the most documented case yet, with precise timelines and 1395 detailed citations, of the position that the Administration:
— Deceived the American people and stonewalled Congress about the reasons for the war;
— Manipulated and selected the intelligence;
— From the highest level authorized the torture at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib;
— Carried personal vendettas and retribution against civil servants and top auditors who wanted to expose lies about WMD's and improper favoritism to Halliburton;
— Spied on literally millions of innocent Americans without warrants and in violation of the Constitution often for no reason but opposing the Iraq war strategy; and
— Violated hundreds of Congressional statutes without authority by unconstitutionally asserting Presidential authority.
— Dangerously violated civil liberties while bypassing required checks and balances."
